What it takes.

Time
The issuing authority decides the application after the complete sponsored file and prerequisite approvals are lodged.
Cost
Government charges are assessed under the issuing authority’s schedule; sponsor, translation and document costs are separate.
The hard part
Separate work-permit and residence approvals, plus filing before the current stay expires.

    1 year, renewable for 2 years at a time.

Language
A certificate showing knowledge of Azerbaijani.
Civics
Undertake to observe the Constitution and laws.
Time away
Five uninterrupted years of permanent residence counted from issuance of the permanent residence permit, with lawful income.
Two passports
Usually not: new citizens are asked to give up their other citizenship.
  • Time on this program does not count toward permanent residence or citizenship; the family would need to switch to one that does.
  • Temporary residence must first be converted to permanent residence; Azerbaijan’s five-year citizenship period starts on the permanent card.
