A student visa for the approved course after the provisional stage; the page does not confer work permission.

Apply before entering Barbados with Forms H-1 and H-2, an acceptance letter from a registered or chartered school, course outline and timetable.

Time: The department states ten working days for a provisional decision and up to sixty working days for the final decision after accepting an application.
Cost: BDS$300 application fee, plus school and living costs.
The hard part: Getting admission, certified school forms, adequate financial proof and all required police certificates before travel.

If your first permit is issued in 2027 and you keep living there, this is the road.

Time away: The full 12 months immediately before applying must be spent in Barbados, plus at least five years in total during the seven years before that. The Minister may accept the final continuous year ending up to six months before filing in a special case.
Two passports: Yes. You keep your U.S. citizenship.

The final visa follows a provisional permit and is tied to the course; lawful physical residence can count, although the department publishes no universal card length or settlement conversion.
How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.

The law behind these dates

Time you must spend there: The program sets no minimum number of days. Renewal still expects it to be your home.
