Temporary residence for the approved employment purpose, generally no more than one year; work authority and duration depend on the actual occupation and employer procedure.

Who qualifies

Employment must comply with Belarusian law. The government lists lawful labour activity as a temporary-residence ground, normally for no more than one year.

The 2026 employer notification procedure applies to occupations on the designated list; other occupations need their applicable work authorization checked with the migration authority. The employer submits contract notices online through E-Pasluga under the applicable procedure.

The applicant must contact the citizenship and migration unit at the intended place of temporary residence and provide the documents under administrative-procedure item 12.6.

Time: Current processing and appointment availability have not been verified.

Permanent residence
The ordinary permanent-residence ground opens after at least 7 years of lawful residence. Family reunification, former citizenship, Belarusian origin, refugee status and a qualifying €150,000 investment are separate grounds.

Language: Belarusian or Russian well enough to communicate.
Civics: Observe and respect the Constitution and other Belarusian laws; the ordinary rule does not publish a separate civics exam.
Time away: Five continuous years after permanent residence is granted. Absence may not exceed 90 days in any calendar year, unless caused by circumstances beyond your control.
Two passports: Usually not: new citizens are asked to give up their other citizenship.

Lawful employment residence can build the 7 years needed for the ordinary permanent-residence ground; citizenship then requires 5 years holding permanent residence.
How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.
