Time: Processing starts after the authority accepts a complete application; travel and work begin only after the required permission issues.
Cost: The authority assesses its filing charge under the fee schedule in force on submission, plus document costs.
The hard part: Securing the local contract and completing the police and medical documents before online filing.

If your first permit is issued in 2027 and you keep living there, this is the road.

Time away: For an alien, the final 12 months must be spent residing in Guyana without interruption, plus at least 5 years in total during the 7 years before that final year. The Minister may relax the periods in special circumstances. The Act also requires good character and an intention to continue living in Guyana.
Two passports: It depends on the rules at the time and on your home country.

The Ministry publishes a 3-year extension term but no separate initial term, so the road uses that published renewable term; years actually residing in Guyana build the naturalisation period, which has no permanent-residence prerequisite.
How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.
Whether you can keep your current citizenship depends on the rules at the time and your home country.

Time you must spend there: The program sets no minimum number of days. Renewal still expects it to be your home.
