What it takes.

Income
At least $2,500 a month, steady and documented.
Time
File through the Secretaría General, then register the approval with the Instituto Nacional de Migración within 30 days of receiving it.
Cost
$300 application charge, plus $20 for each year of the residence card and document legalisation costs.
The hard part
The $2,500 monthly income must be permanent, lawful and stable, with the evidence legalised and translated for the Secretaría General filing.

A written exam on Honduran history, geography and the Constitution, held every three months, with one retake after six months.
Time away
More than three consecutive years of legal residence. The constitutional test is consecutive residence rather than a stated annual day count.
