Cambodia

Citizenship by donation or investment. Cambodia has had a cash way to citizenship since 1996; a December 2025 overhaul roughly tripled the price, from about $245,000 to about $3 million for the donation and from about $305,000 to about $1 million for the investment track.

Citizenship by donation or investment

Full Cambodian citizenship and passport; dual nationality is allowed, and since 2025 a dual citizen’s foreign passport must be registered with the authorities.

Who qualifies

Whether you keep your U.S. citizenship depends on the option you choose later.

1

Does it fit your family?

One question, from the program’s own rules.

Savings you could move or invest?

Not legal advice.

2

What it takes.

Investment
About $1,000,000.
Time
No statutory timeline; law firms estimate several months to about a year with the 2025 due-diligence layer.
Cost
About $1 million on the investment track or about $3 million on the donation track since December 2025, plus legal and processing fees. The old $245,000 / $305,000 figures no longer apply to new applicants.
The hard part
The price tripled overnight and most pages still quote the old number. If you only want to live in Cambodia, the ordinary visa extension (KH-EB) is far cheaper.

Dollar figures are converted from the local currency at the rate the program’s research used; the official figure is in the local currency.

Yes. You keep your U.S. citizenship.

Time you must spend there
None to obtain or keep citizenship.
Tax
Cambodia generally does not tax residents’ foreign-source income in practice, but citizenship alone changes nothing about your home-country tax residence.
