Business or independent professional resident card

A ten-year resident card, renewable, for the approved business or profession, together with the authorization to create the enterprise. Each family member takes their own stay card.

Who qualifies

For a stay exceeding three months, obtain a long-stay visa through a Comorian mission and a stay card after entry; the visa or stay card alone does not permit gainful activity.

Naturalisation requires ten years’ habitual residence before the application, five for a foreigner married to a Comorian or who has rendered important services. The code does not require giving up a prior nationality.

What it takes.

Time: The stay card is issued within ten days of entry. The resident card and business authorization then wait for the next Council of Ministers decision.
Cost: The visa on arrival is 15,000 Comorian francs (about $35). Card fees are set each year by the finance law, the resident card carries an annual duty, and the law sets no minimum capital.
The hard part: A single Council of Ministers decision covers both the card and the right to open the business, so the business plan carries the whole file.
