Who qualifies

The applicant needs proof of full-time enrolment in an approved school course or at a higher-education institution and program in the education ministry’s register, showing the planned duration; a minor needs parent or guardian consent.

General residence conditions include support, accommodation, health insurance and public-order checks. A legally present applicant may submit the study-residence application to the Ministry of Interior.

What it takes.

Time: Article 75 gives 30 working days for a ministry-filed application or 60 working days through a diplomatic mission, subject to a statutory extension.
Cost: Verify current government, enrolment and document fees with the school and Ministry of Interior.
The hard part: Confirming the program’s approval or registration, the passport-specific D-visa rule and any permission for short or auxiliary work.

Language: Macedonian well enough to talk easily with the people around you, judged by a commission the government sets up.
Time away: Seven years of lawful, continuous residence before applying. The citizenship law does not count days abroad; the permanent-residence rule (at most 6 months in a row or 10 in total over 5 years) is the working guide.
Two passports: It depends on the rules at the time and on your home country.

Study residence is renewable yearly and counts at half rate toward the 5-year permanent-residence threshold, so that milestone takes 10 study years; the citizenship law’s separate 7-year lawful-residence clock still applies.
How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.
