What it takes.

Time
The issuing authority decides the application after the complete sponsored file and prerequisite approvals are lodged.
Cost
Government charges are assessed under the issuing authority’s schedule; sponsor, translation and document costs are separate.
The hard part
Obtaining labour permission and matching the job to C2; US nationality does not itself confer employment rights.

Citizens by 2033.

If your first permit is issued in 2027 and you keep living there, this is the road.

    First residence permit

    1 year, renewable for 1 year at a time.

  2. 2032
    Apply for citizenship

    With a language test and a civics test.

  3. 2033
    Citizenship

    The decision usually takes 6–12 months.

Language
Speak and understand Mongolian well.
Civics
Know Mongolian traditions and customs and have a general understanding of the Constitution and laws.
Time away
At least five years of permanent residence before applying, supported by lawful income of at least ten times the minimum wage.
Two passports
Usually not: new citizens are asked to give up their other citizenship.
  • Permanent residence for citizenship is a separate status; five years holding that status, Mongolian knowledge and renunciation are required.
  • This country asks new citizens to give up their other citizenship.
