Language
An adequate knowledge of Maltese or English.
Time away
Living in Malta for the whole 12 months right before applying, and for at least 4 of the 6 years before that. The minister may count older residence in special cases.

Tax
Nomad-permit holders can be taxed only on Malta-sourced income and remitted foreign income under Malta’s remittance-basis rules, rather than worldwide income, if structured correctly.
