Language: Knowledge of Spanish (or another official language), tested unless it is your mother tongue.
Civics: An evaluation of Peru’s history, geography, Constitution, culture, civic education and current affairs.
Time away: Ley 32421’s five-year rule takes effect the day after its implementing regulation is published; applications filed before then remain under the former two-year rule. A family starting now should plan for five continuous years. Residence status is lost after more than 183 days in a row abroad in any 365 days without authorisation. The new law also requires lawful income of 10 UIT a year with taxes paid.
Two passports: It depends on the rules at the time and on your home country.

The Rentista status has no end date (the foreigner’s card is renewed every 4 years), and its years count toward the naturalisation clock: 5 years under the new law once it is in force, 2 under the old one.
How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.
