Time
The issuing authority decides the application after the complete sponsored file and prerequisite approvals are lodged.

Citizens by 2036.

If your first permit is issued in 2027 and you keep living there, this is the road.

Reasonable knowledge of citizenship rights, privileges, responsibilities and duties, and respect for local customs and cultures.
Time away
Eight years of continuous residence, followed by an application within two months of completing the eighth year unless the Minister extends that filing period.
Two passports
It depends on the rules at the time and on your home country.
  • ICA says validity and extensions depend on the course and individual circumstances; the road uses annual checkpoints, and continuous lawful residence can build the constitutional eight-year period.
  • How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.
