POSTERN

Singapore

EntrePass. A founder-only work pass for starting a Singapore company, with no personal salary requirement but a real bar of outside validation.

Free, with the law behind every answer

EntrePass

A work pass tied to the company, issued for 1 year, then renewed for 12 months and then 24-month increments contingent on local hiring, spending, and revenue milestones. A Dependant’s Pass becomes available for spouse and children once the holder meets a Ministry of Manpower salary threshold.

Who qualifies

  • At least 30% shareholding in a Singapore private limited company registered no more than 6 months before applying (or not yet incorporated), excluding certain sectors such as coffee shops, bars, and massage parlours.
    EntrePass eligibility
  • Qualify under at least one of: SGD 100,000 (about $74,000) raised from a third-party investor in a single round; backing from a recognised incubator or accelerator; a track record of founding or selling a venture-backed or IP-owning business; registered intellectual property giving a competitive edge; or a research collaboration with a Singapore institute of higher learning.

Does it fit your family?

2 questions, from the program’s own rules.

How old are you?

Not legal advice.

2

What it takes.

Savings
About $74,000.
Age
18 or older.
Time
About 8 weeks for the pass, and roughly another 8 weeks for a Dependant’s Pass.
Cost
About SGD 105 to apply and SGD 225 to issue; the SGD 100,000 (if that is the qualifying option) is capital raised, not a fee.
The hard part
Meeting a qualifying criterion with real institutional validation; self-funded founders without venture backing, an incubator, or protectable IP have low approval odds.

Dollar figures are converted from the local currency at the rate the program’s research used; the official figure is in the local currency.

This visa doesn’t lead to a passport.

  1. 2027
    First residence permit

1 year, renewable for 2 years at a time.

Civics
The mandatory Singapore Citizenship Journey for applicants aged 16 to 60: an online module, a community event and a sharing session.
Time away
At least two years as a permanent resident, aged 21 or over. ICA publishes no day count; it weighs length of residence, family ties, economic contribution and integration, and approval is at its discretion.
Two passports
Usually not: new citizens are asked to give up their other citizenship.
  • Time on this program does not count toward permanent residence or citizenship; the family would need to switch to one that does.
  • A work pass, not a permanent-residence category: ICA’s listed professional options name Employment Pass and S Pass holders, so an EntrePass holder needs a later qualifying status.

Time you must spend there
The program sets no minimum number of days. Renewal still expects it to be your home.
Tax
183 or more days a year makes you a Singapore tax resident on Singapore-source income and remitted foreign income.

We never file a tax return. We tell you what applies and brief the professional who does.
