Who qualifies

  • Invest at least SGD 10,000,000 (about $7.4 million) in a new or expanded Singapore business across one of roughly 25 approved sectors, backed by a 5-year business plan on headcount and spending that the Economic Development Board assesses for genuine job creation; or SGD 25,000,000 in an approved GIP-Select fund; or run a single-family office with at least SGD 200,000,000 under management and SGD 50,000,000 deployed into specified local categories.

Does it fit your family?

2 questions, from the program’s own rules.

How old are you?

Not legal advice.

2

What it takes.

Investment
About $7,400,000.
Age
21 or older.
Time
9–12 months to an approval-in-principle, then up to 6 months to complete the investment — 12–18 months in total.
Cost
The SGD 20,000 EDB fee plus SGD 100 per applicant in ICA fees; the SGD 10 million-plus investment itself is capital, not a fee.
The hard part
Clearing the capital floor and getting the Economic Development Board to approve the business plan on sector fit and genuine economic contribution.

Dollar figures are converted from the local currency at the rate the program’s research used; the official figure is in the local currency.

Civics
The mandatory Singapore Citizenship Journey for applicants aged 16 to 60: an online module, a community event and a sharing session.
Time away
At least two years as a permanent resident, aged 21 or over. ICA publishes no day count; it weighs length of residence, family ties, economic contribution and integration, and approval is at its discretion.
Two passports
Usually not: new citizens are asked to give up their other citizenship.
  • Permanent residence from the start, with five-year re-entry permits; citizenship can be applied for after two years as a PR, at ICA’s discretion and with renunciation.
  • How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.
  • This country asks new citizens to give up their other citizenship.

Living there.

Time you must spend there
The program sets no minimum number of days. Renewal still expects it to be your home.
Tax
183 or more days a year makes you a Singapore tax resident; Singapore has no capital-gains or estate tax, and foreign income not remitted is generally untaxed for individuals.

We never file a tax return. We tell you what applies and brief the professional who does.
