Processing runs from submission of the complete file to the issuing authority’s decision.

Published fees: US$1,250 for 6 months, US$2,500 for 12, US$5,000 for 24 or US$7,500 for 36.
The hard part

If your first permit is issued in 2027 and you keep living there, this is the road.

Adequate knowledge of a prescribed Ugandan vernacular language or English.
Time away
Twenty years in total, including continuous residence throughout the 24 months immediately before applying, with an intention to remain permanently.
Two passports
It depends on the rules at the time and on your home country.
  • Class G2 can be approved for up to 36 months at a time; lawful years count toward the twenty-year naturalisation period.
  • How long the decision takes isn’t published; we allow a year.
  • Whether you can keep your current citizenship depends on the rules at the time and your home country.
