Transeúnte Laboral visa

A one-year, multiple-entry labour visa allowing a stay for the same period if issued.

Who qualifies

You keep your U.S. citizenship.

1

Does it fit your family?

One question, from the program’s own rules.

Do you have a binding job offer in that country?

Not legal advice.

2

What it takes.

Time
Processing starts after the authority accepts a complete application; travel and work begin only after the required permission issues.
Cost
The authority assesses its filing charge under the fee schedule in force on submission, plus document costs.
The hard part
Obtaining the Labour Ministry’s certified work authorization before the consular visa application.

Citizens by 2038.

If your first permit is issued in 2027 and you keep living there, this is the road.

  1. 2027
    First residence permit

1 year, renewable for 1 year at a time.

  2. 2028
    Permanent residence

After at least 1 uninterrupted year in Venezuela on a qualifying transient visa—among them Laboral, Inversionista, Rentista, Religioso and Familiar—the Interior Ministry may grant resident status on request. Resident status is renewed every 5 years. The student visa is a non-migrant category and is not included in that conversion rule.

  3. 2037
    Apply for citizenship
  4. 2038
    Citizenship

The decision usually takes 1–6 months.

Time away
Ten years of domicile in Venezuela with uninterrupted residence immediately before applying (5 for the listed nationalities). The law sets no annual day count. The application must show a current Venezuelan identity card, passport and visa; the authority has up to 6 months to decide once the file is complete.
Two passports
Yes. You keep your U.S. citizenship.
  • The one-year multiple-entry labour visa may be renewed for another year; after 1 uninterrupted year its holder may request resident status, and uninterrupted Venezuelan domicile counts toward naturalisation.

Living there.

Time you must spend there
The program sets no minimum number of days. Renewal still expects it to be your home.
Tax
Where you become tax resident follows the days you spend there and where your home is. We map it for your family before you move.

We never file a tax return. We tell you what applies and brief the professional who does.
